Tella on X

The largest group, 26 people, praise Tella for fast edits, captions and a team that keeps shipping; 6 credit the agent and MCP with the work. Loom is the tool it gets measured against, and the widest-reaching post says filming is great but editing is where it breaks.

How do people feel about Tella?

Most people posting here are fans: 26 of the 37 in this section praise Tella for fast editing, a steady run of features, and a team that ships quickly. The next theme is the agent and MCP doing the edits, 6 people.

Praise is specific about what saves time. People say they spend under fifteen minutes editing a video, upload from an iPhone and get captions they can restyle, cut silence, filler words and mistakes in the editor, and like an audio enhance feature that makes a Mac microphone sound like a good mic. Zoom Effects and Eye Contact get named as recent wins, and several praise how fast the team ships features and answers feedback. One person sends short Tella videos to the founders they work with instead of booking meetings.

6 people credit the agent and MCP with the work itself: transcripts pulled into Claude to build maps and boards, highlights and vertical shorts found from long-form, metadata generated, batch edits done in one session rather than hopping tabs.

3 people are only trying it out. 2 are down on it — one says a UI change means preview no longer leads into the editor, another that a Tella video is still a recorded meeting with a play button. The post with the most reach, from late September, praises the filming but says editing on the platform is where it breaks down.

No one has built a good Agent Native video editing/filming platform. Someone should build an Open Descript. Their MCP connection allows you to edit with Codex and Claude Code but it just sends a prompt from your Claude code to their “Underlord Agent”. This costs more money and forces you to use their tokens. This is not, and will never be the way. Because of this I’m looking for alternatives. Descript is the best at cutting the app on the timeline, and thus it’s really good at adding overlays and broll and zooms on specific parts of the video. But their built in agent is worse and less efficient than just using Claude Code locally, like almost all wrappers. @TellaHQ is great for the filming part, but I run into problems when I try to edit on their platform. Plus their hybrid desktop app - web app experience is just chaotic. Davinci has not solved the transcript part of the flow… and so ai editing is cool, but not practical. I hate to say it but I think I’m going back to premiere…….

claude + miro building these beautiful mindmaps and boards for our training/sales calls materials 😍😍 It literally used to take us 42+ hours to create these manually inside miro Now we just feed it our formulas to claude it has @TellaHQ and @MiroHQ ‘s MCP added So let’s say if we have done any long sessions it takes the transcript from tella and turn it into visualisations that can be repurposed Great materials for sales calls, training, videos etc

2 big projects at a time. That's my max. And I work async. Founders get a short @TellaHQ video from me instead of another meeting, and they watch it whenever they have a gap. Basically it means their product is in my head every day. No calendar puzzle before every round. Small rounds only work if the founder can keep up. This is how I make that easy.

Todo mundo editando vídeo com IA nesse fim de semana. O que estou testando por aqui para comparar os resultados: Opção 1️⃣: Instalei o @HyperFrames_ Studio e o Codex CLI no computador do Grok Bot. Mando o vídeo pelo chat, ele leva pra máquina dele, edita e me devolve. Opção 2️⃣: Instalei o plugin do @HyperFrames_ no Codex.

What do people complain about with Tella?

Everything filed here is about editing and playback, and the post with wide reach is blunt: strong at filming, weak once you edit on the platform.

4 posts land here from 3 people, and each is about editing or playback. The one with the most reach is a long complaint that filming is great but editing on the platform is where things go wrong: the MCP route sends prompts to Tella's own agent, which that writer says costs more money and forces you to use their tokens, and the desktop-and-web split is called chaotic. They were looking at alternatives, Premiere included.

The rest is smaller and more concrete. After a UI change, clicking preview no longer leads into the editor — "10/10 hate" from someone logged in on both app and web. And a 4.5-star verdict says the recorder and editor did nicely from captions to timestamps to editing, but lagged a bit with low-resolution video.

What are the alternatives to Tella?

Loom is the comparison that comes up most — 4 people weigh Tella against it, and the verdicts run better, cheaper and less creepy. The rest compare against HyperFrames, Screen Studio, a Hermes agent or DaVinci Resolve, one or two people each.

The Loom thread is the live one. Asked point blank whether Tella is a lot better than Loom, people answer "much better, much cheaper, less creepy", that it "does a great job, better than loom", and one calls Loom "an all time fumble". What turns up as a reason is Loom's permissions being creepy, from someone who said they would look into Tella because of it.

2 people sort Tella against HyperFrames by job rather than winner: HyperFrames good for motion design, Tella for videos shot while showing a screen, and both needed. One of them is running Tella's native agent next to two HyperFrames setups and says they like the results so far. One person says Tella "really killed screenstudio", and another who cut a video by hand in DaVinci Resolve expects to use Tella next time. Someone already editing with a Hermes agent wants to check Tella against it.

Questions· 9 posts· written 27 Oct

What do people ask about Tella?

Questions split evenly three ways: what data the automation works from, whether Tella can do a specific thing, and how someone got a result — 3, 3 and 3 people respectively.

The data question is about what the automation is looking at. Someone asks how the agent decides which clips are worth posting, and whether that comes from retention data on past videos or just from the transcript. Someone else asks whether analytics are reachable through the MCP, and a third asks how a poster frame got chosen — by hand or by scoring frames.

The "can it do this" questions are about features people saw and want to reproduce: whether the text behind a speaker is a Tella editing feature (from a paying user planning to test it that week), whether a YouTube video can be edited with Claude motion and Tella, and a "since when is this possible?" at a feature that was new to them.

The how questions are about method: how much of the structure is decided before recording, on the theory that a tight outline and a clean take move work out of the edit, and what happens "if my handwriting is terrible".

What do people want from Tella?

There is no shared ask yet: four people want four different things — copying crop settings across layouts, multi-person layouts, motion effects, and automatic help-doc videos.

Each request is one person's, and each is tied to a job they are doing. Someone asks for a feature that copies current crop settings onto another screen or layout in one go, saying it "would save me lots of time". Someone else, impressed that Tella went from screen recorder to whole video production, asks whether multi-person layouts are coming, "like... that other tool".

Motion effects are on one person's list, waiting for it. And someone running a help-doc update — automated images done, videos still needed — asks for a place in the beta for the feature that records help-doc walkthroughs automatically.

Oh my days! You sure went from screen recorder to whole video production in a hurry. Really impressive stuff. Do you plan to add multi-person layouts like... that other tool that... listens to the radio by the river?
