Monologue on X

Talk about Monologue is calm and positive: the largest group, 10 people, are low-key satisfied users who dictate daily. Praise also goes to the Dot UI (4 people) and its own model (2 people); complaints are narrow — post-processing errors, a webhook bug, slow uploads.

How do people feel about Monologue?

Reception is positive: satisfied users are the biggest group at 10 people, recommending it and using it daily for voice notes and first drafts. The Dot is next at 4 people, and 2 people credit the move to Monologue's own model.

Satisfied users are the largest group, and they are low-key about it: solid dictation on a Mac, customisable with your own words, free with an Every subscription. They describe it as part of a routine — rambling voice notes that a Mac mini processes overnight, thinking dictated on the go so an agent turns it into a first draft, barely typing any more. One says it summarises well even when they restart sentences. The one caveat in this group: better than Wispr and the system's dictation, but still not perfect, with slow uploads.

The Dot is the next biggest theme at 4 people, and its most-shared post calls it the biggest quality-of-life upgrade to their workflow in a long time, "my favorite little piece of UI on the entire Mac". Those on Monologue's own model cite 100ms median API response time and about 7% word error rate, better than every provider's models; one says they "edit it much less", while allowing that might be a placebo. Delight at a first-try spoken email address and an Action Button trick came with 4 earlier posts, none since mid-September.

Oh man, this is a great pairing. I use Monologue every day and I'm waiting impatiently for my ring pre-order. I've built a tremendous personal agent workflow for ingesting my Monologue notes and Index 01 stuff, and I can't wait to see what Sandbar can do.

The new “Dot” in @usemonologue by @every might be the biggest quality-of-life upgrade to my workflow in a long time. It’s also, somehow, my favorite little piece of UI on the entire Mac. Tiny dot. Ridiculously good product design. I’m addicted.

.@usemonologue now runs on it's own model and it's really good. 100ms median API response time and ~7% word error rate. That's better than every provider's models. The software is amazing, especially if you're an AI pilled builder, and now the model is too. link

I just had a massive dictation breakthrough using Monologue. This is going to sound so ridiculous and so silly and so stupid, but it's the first time I've ever tried writing my email address with my voice and it just worked. OMG. Thx @usemonologue

What do people complain about with Monologue?

Bugs and reliability are what people raise, from 4 people: post-processing errors, webhooks failing on 401, slow uploads and phrases dictation mishears. Headphone trouble is quiet, last raised in September.

The specific failures people name are narrow. One asks whether it is "down" after post-processing failed with an invalid-token error, and later thanks the account after it worked. A developer finds notes webhooks to Cursor return 401 on every note.processed, with only URL and Name in the UI and no Bearer option even in the ··· menu, and asks whether that is a bug, an account flag or a missing auth option. One person, otherwise positive, says it is better than Wispr and the system dictation "but still not perfect. Slow uploads etc". On what it hears, one plans to train dictation to understand the French phrase "je nai se quoi".

Headphones are the older, quiet complaint: one person gave up on routing and disabled headphones entirely, always sending audio input to a dedicated mic, and another asks AirPods' conversation awareness to account for people dictating nearby.

No one in this section complains about price or about trusting what it does with their words.

Hey @naveennaidu_m @usemonologue — Notes webhooks to Cursor need Bearer auth, but my UI only has URL + Name (no Bearer in ··· either). Every ping/note.processed → 401. Bug, account flag, or another auth option?

Alternatives· 4 posts· written 27 Oct

What are the alternatives to Monologue?

Comparisons are level: one person each takes up Wispr, FluidVoice, Raycast and the system's own dictation. In each, the person puts Monologue ahead — more control over post-processing, better accuracy, easier on iPhone.

Wispr, FluidVoice, Raycast and built-in dictation are level at 1 person apiece, and in each case the person puts Monologue ahead. Against Wispr the claim is "Way more control over post=processing and better accuracy than Wisp"; the other person using Wispr says it "took a nose dive on accuracy", that FluidVoice beats it on the Mac and Monologue on the iPhone.

The system's own dictation gets the shortest mention: better than Wispr and the system, "but still not perfect. Slow uploads etc".

Raycast appears as something to improve rather than leave: someone who loves it hopes it becomes "as easy to use as @usemonologue" on iOS, with a shortcut that avoids swiping back and forth between the active app and Raycast. Nothing here weighs a price or a paid plan against another tool.

I love it, but I hope they make it as easy to use as @usemonologue (and now @WillowVoiceAI) on iOS with a shortcut that removes the need to swipe back and forth between the active app and Raycast.

Questions· 2 posts· written 27 Oct

What do people ask about Monologue?

Two people ask about getting it: one asks whether it is available "on the app", saying there is "no indication anywhere"; the other asks "Android app when?"

Both questions are about getting it, not about how it works, and neither draws an answer in the filed posts.

The availability question is where to find it: "Is it available on the app? There is no indication anywhere."

The other is one line: "Android app when?" — the same post that carries the wish for an Android version. No one in the filed posts asks about pricing, about which model runs it, or about privacy.

What do people want from Monologue?

Wishes are level, 1 person each: an Android version, and dictation that understands non-English phrases people actually say.

The Android wish is a single line — "Android app when?" — the same post that carries the availability question.

The other wish is about hearing what people say: one plans to "train my dictation tool" to understand the French phrase "je nai se quoi". It is framed as something on their own to-do list, not a complaint about the product.

Nothing in the filed posts asks for new integrations, offline use, a lower price or more languages beyond that one phrase.
