HubSpot on X

Satisfied users write about HubSpot working in daily use: contacts logged, follow-ups dated, reports built. The complaints sit at the seams — quiet sync failures, duplicates, and numbers that disagree with finance's — and building a custom CRM is the alternative people describe most.

How do people feel about HubSpot?

Satisfied users are most of the conversation: 17 of the 28 people in this section describe HubSpot working in daily use. Recommending it and crediting it with results are level at 4 and 4 people, and open hostility is 3 people.

People who are happy with it talk about where their work ends up more than about features: a bot logs conference contacts into HubSpot with dated follow-ups, a workflow auto-pushes form submissions in and saves about five minutes a lead, another uses a HubSpot service key scoped to just the contact and company fields it needs. Others describe routine practice that works — running two filters to find leads that have waited two days with no logged call, building reports from templates first, having the AI assistant create or duplicate pipelines.

Those crediting it with results bring numbers: one case study puts lead-to-customer conversion at 1% to 5%, another says shared context took lead response from hours to minutes, and one post calls forced onboarding the key to early growth. Recommenders point at the free CRM for small businesses and the training sessions, one noting the hours are awkward but the sessions are good.

The hostile ones are few and blunt, from "Friends don't let friends use HubSpot!" to a request that someone build a better CRM.

Spent 2 days at a conference. After every meeting I sent a 30-second voice note to my @bot NIC. It logged 39 contacts, found their LinkedIn and email, loaded them into HubSpot with 22 dated follow-ups, and tracked ~$6.5mm of pipeline. I never had to open hubspot

The Sauna Place。

What do people complain about with HubSpot?

Sync trouble is the biggest complaint, at 6 people: writes between HubSpot and other tools fail quietly or overwrite each other, and keeping records current is manual work. Reporting that misleads and missing or clunky admin are level behind it at 5 and 5 people.

Sync trouble is what people describe in most detail. A step returns a 200 while the write was bad, one person is "frankensteining Hubspot + Attio" together with everything updated by hand, and duplicates appear once several tools write into the CRM through an agent. The fixes they name are preventive rather than remedial: a dedupe check before a conference list goes in, naming one system that decides which value is true when two disagree, logging the values sent so they can be diffed against what HubSpot stored.

Reporting comes next: contacts piled under Offline Sources make channel ROI quietly wrong, a Google Ads account counted every form fill because no SQL was fired back, and finance's revenue differs from HubSpot's when two systems edit the same field. Agents add a version of this — one that reads a count of matching deals can report a wrong number with full confidence.

Missing pieces and clunky admin follow: no merging helpdesk tickets by subject, no changing just a subject line or CTA inside the nurture agent. Then price — automation worth $800 a month replaced by asking an agent, bundles called a "bloated monster".

Since INP replaced FID, a WooCommerce filter panel or a HubSpot form can slow every click on a page, not just the first one. In our audits the fix is usually trimming what loads on every template, not rebuilding the theme. Link below.

I am frankensteining Hubspot + Attio together from scratch. The repeat order is being tracked PO that updates to each client in supabase. Then i can teach Jev to score clients based on leaning towards higher purchase rate category. What a great idea! Everything is updated manually so i am having trouble with keeping things up to date.

Last month a CMO told me “our Google campaigns aren’t working.” So I asked why. “Sales says the leads are junk.” Why? “We haven’t really prioritized it. Probably don’t have the right person running Google.” Why? “Our paid person left in March and it’s basically been on autopilot.” That was it. Lack of attention. Poor setup. Google was counting every form fill as a win. Nobody had connected HubSpot to Google Ads to fire back a SQL, so no one had any idea only 11 of those 100ish were real buyers. Google was doing exactly what it was told (i.e., find more people who fill out forms). Google Ads is the smartest dumb machine on the planet.  I love it because it does exactly what you tell it to do - but aiming it at the wrong thing, you’re screwed. Anyway, discovery almost always comes down to the 5 Whys. Keep asking why until you find the real business problem instead of the dashboard version of it, then follow the money (almost always Google & LinkedIn for B2B). We do that first review for free. It gets everyone out of opinions and into the account.

Alternatives· 15 posts from 14 people· written 27 Oct

What are the alternatives to HubSpot?

Building a custom CRM is the biggest single alternative, at 4 people, usually with AI coding tools to avoid the subscription. Salesforce and AI agents standing in for HubSpot automation are level behind at 2 and 2 people; past those, one or two people each name Twenty, Attio, GoHighLevel, Brevo, Apollo or AWS SES.

Custom-built CRM is what people describe most: 4 people talk about building their own instead of paying, one reaching v1.0 of a business app with Grok and never having written code, another replacing HubSpot and QuickBooks with a CRM that works the way they want, and one reply calling a HubSpot replacement built in two months pure insanity.

Salesforce and AI agents are level at 2 and 2 people. Salesforce is cast as the enterprise incumbent with too much invested to drop, better for large orgs, with HubSpot placed alongside niche CRMs for smaller sales teams that aren't scaling fast; one post compares revenue per employee. The agent posts are about substitution more than a rival product: $800 a month for field updates replaced by asking a Grok agent, and auto-replies now done in minutes with AI where HubSpot was used.

The rest are single mentions: Twenty as the open-source replacement, in the section's most-travelled post by reach; Attio predicted to be this generation's CRM as bulky incumbents fall away; GoHighLevel called the better platform; Brevo matched to how complex a business's customer journeys are; Apollo's unified AI sales pitch compared with HubSpot's; AWS SES for email because it is far cheaper.

Hot take: ANYONE can now build a *complex* software application. Thank you @Grok @Bot. I just did. I've never written a line of code in my life. Still haven't. From a blank Requirements doc on Sep 24 to v1.0 on Oct 23... * >30,000 lines of code * 276 commits * 110+ numbered builds * THOUSANDS of "conversations" with Grok Bot to hone in the requirements, features, functionalities. * 197 pages of requirements became "v1" All in my spare time. The alternative was cobbling together something like Jobber, Hubspot, and salesrabbit or SPOTIO. None of those are built for us. This software is quite literally built exactly for us. Need custom software to run your business? DIY...with some help from @SpaceX Grok Bot. Amazing.

trivial to build oss linear now. and no reason to give them money. I have our own custom linear hosted on cloud-run and it costs us $30/mo, has all the features we need, and dozens of customer feedback triage features that we have been adding in the past that would be too much to maintain but now a bot just maintains the whole thing we also eliminated circleci I'm also eliminating HubSpot too there's just no reason to pay these companies for all this nonsense

Questions· 4 posts· written 27 Oct

What do people ask about HubSpot?

Keeping data clean is the largest question here, from 2 people: what to dedupe and how to find out how clean the pipeline really is. What integrating with HubSpot is actually like, and whether it captures LINE chats, are level behind at 1 and 1 people.

The data-cleanliness question comes from 2 people. One asks what happens once five tools write into HubSpot through Claude, when three versions of the same contact show up fast: dedupe before the write, or clean up after? The other lays out a read-only audit — export open deals with owner, stage, close date and last activity, have Claude list the ones with close dates in the past or no activity in 30 days, send the worst ten to their owners as questions.

The other two are each from a single person, level with each other. A founder asks what integrating with Salesforce or HubSpot really took: what was harder than expected, did it win customers or add maintenance and support work, and what would you do differently starting again.

The last is about LINE: one person notes HubSpot's own announcement lists calls, emails and meetings as what the Smart CRM captures automatically, and asks where others store what was agreed on LINE, suggesting a field be chosen for it.

Want to know how clean your CRM really is? Start with a read-only audit. 1. Export open deals from HubSpot or Salesforce: owner, stage, close date, last activity, next step, and contacts. 2. Ask Claude to list deals with a close date in the past, no activity in 30 days, or only one contact. 3. Ask for counts by owner, then sort by dollar amount. 4. Share the top 10 with each owner in Slack as questions. 5. Rerun it in two weeks and compare the counts. Nothing gets changed in the CRM during this. That makes it easy to get a yes from the team. What would your count look like?

solid list. the part I'd worry about is #8, once 5 tools are all writing into HubSpot through Claude you get 3 versions of the same contact pretty fast. do you dedupe before the write or clean up after?

Building your app is one thing. Getting it to play nicely with someone else’s CRM is another. For founders and devs who’ve integrated with Salesforce or HubSpot, how’s it actually worked out? What was harder than expected? Did it help you win customers, or mostly create more maintenance and support work? If you were starting again, what would you do differently?

Wishes· 4 posts· written 27 Oct

What do people want from HubSpot?

The wishes are level, with no clear leader: Excel-like bulk editing, easier modules and faster support, more control over nurture emails, and merging helpdesk tickets by subject are each raised by a single person, 4 people in all.

Four asks, one person each, with no clear leader among them.

Bulk editing is one: editing HubSpot records with the feel of Excel, so many fields can be updated at once without exporting a CSV just to make the edits. The person notes HubSpot does have bulk updates, but Excel is faster.

Admin friction is another: easier module management, clearer contact limits and faster access to customer support, after what came back instead was an offer to personalize navigation.

The third is control over nurture emails — changing just the subject line or the CTA inside HubSpot's nurture agent. That person couldn't get the agent to do it and built the nurture sequence in n8n instead.

The fourth is in the helpdesk: merging emails with the same subject into a single ticket, which HubSpot doesn't offer; the workaround suggested is to route system error mail to a separate address from customer enquiries.

  • Excel-like bulk editing1
  • Easier modules, clearer limits, faster support1
  • More control over nurture emails1
  • Merge tickets by subject1

What i need from @HubSpot : easier module management, clearer contact limits, faster access to CS. What I get from Hubspot - "Here personalize your navigation." Can someone reverse engineer and build a better CRM?
