Carrd on X

The largest group, 21 people, post about enjoying Carrd — showing off pages they made or praising someone else's — and 16 more plan one of their own. The friction is the hours a page takes and the skill it assumes; Strawpage is the alternative people weigh it against.

How do people feel about Carrd?

21 of the section's 42 people post about enjoying Carrd — showing off pages they have made, praising other people's, recommending it — and 16 more say they want to make one, often after seeing someone else's. 3 people treat the Carrd in their bio as the link people trust, and 2 describe a page that did not work out.

Pages are made to be shown off. People post a new or remade Carrd proudly ("so proud of me, I made a carrd finally"), call their own layout pretty, say they are obsessed with it or want a different one, and tell others to make one; one recommends Carrd with a ton of HTML embeds for building a site. The affection is sometimes nostalgic — people remember loving making Carrds — and the page often does a practical job: commission instructions, hosting idols, hosting links.

The next group has not built one yet. They plan a Carrd to hold condensed info about a character or fandom, a lore page, an art portfolio, a list of ships, or to replace a wiki link nobody clicks. A few of these want one but do not know how, or have forgotten.

Trust in the format is a small strand: a Carrd in the bio is easy to find and people do not trust random site links, and one asks a contact to check their Carrd first. The disappointment is rarely about the tool: one dropped it because their attempt "didn't look well", hired someone and it "didn't end well", and one says their Carrd lasted less than a month.

What do people complain about with Carrd?

Effort is the complaint: 12 of the section's 25 people describe making or updating a Carrd as hours of work they put off or dread, and 10 say they cannot work out how to make one or need tutorials. 3 complain that pages come out cluttered or hard to read.

The time is the specific grievance: updating is "so time consuming", one followed a YouTube tutorial that "took a few hrs", others want to update but cannot be bothered, are too lazy to make one at all, or put off finishing a page. Frustration is with themselves as much as the tool — "I have no idea what I'm doing" while remaking a site.

The harder block is skill. People say they always wanted a Carrd but do not understand how to make one, that they will need tutorials and never learned HTML, or that they lack the talent for it; one artist wants a portfolio page but finds Carrd "confusing" and asks for help. For full control, one says you are still forced to learn code, and another finds Carrd harder to edit than Strawpage.

Readability is a complaint about pages rather than the tool: people find info pages unreadable, one with astigmatism asks makers to "MAKE IT READABLE", and others say their own page "looks like a mess".

What are the alternatives to Carrd?

Strawpage is what people weigh Carrd against: 9 of the section's 12 people compare the two, several finding Strawpage easier to use and some returning to Carrd. 2 people weigh a site of their own, and 1 prefer Canva for making their page.

Strawpage is the rival named most often, and the test is ease. One says "strawpage is way easier to use than carrd", another finds Carrd harder to work with than Strawpage, and one is ready to ditch their Carrd and go for Strawpage if it is easy enough. What draws people there is its messages and drawings, described as a digital scrapbook with anonymous asks, rather than a page of links; one wants that but stays with a Carrd because the making process intimidates them.

Not everyone moves in the same direction: one is returning to Carrd because they find Strawpage too hard, and others weigh a Strawpage for fun without needing to replace their page.

Leaving for a self-built site is about control: a VTuber decided not to settle for Carrd or Linktree and moved to something they have far more control over. Against that, one keeps a Carrd instead of running their own site because people distrust random site links and a self-hosted site is a lot to manage. One person who used Carrd finds Canva better for making pages.

Strawpage is the new carrd now im sorry bro, it feels more a digital scrapbook so people prefer it. Gimmick is anonymous asks (kinda like curious cat asks) or anonymous drawings people can send you from your strawpage. This was mine -> link

Recently I've been seeing posts about how important it can be to have your own website to show yourself off as a VTuber, and rather than settling for carrd or linktree, I've decided to move it to something I have far more control over ;D visit below⤵️ #Vtuber #reallycoolwebsite

Questions· 8 posts· written 27 Oct

What do people ask about Carrd?

The largest group of questions is about how to build one: 4 of the section's 8 people ask how a Carrd is made, want a tutorial or say they have forgotten. 2 ask what Carrd is or what they would use it for, and 2 ask whether a Strawpage would be easier.

The how-to questions are practical and often from people who have not made a page before: one simply asks how a Carrd is made, another plans one and asks to be reminded how, and an artist wants a Carrd as an art portfolio with terms outside Vgen but finds it confusing and asks for help. The answer given in the posts is YouTube tutorials.

The rest is orientation. Someone asks outright what a Carrd is, and one is unsure they have anything to put on one, thinking they might at least collect things there. The remaining questions are the comparison: whether Strawpage is relatively easy to make, and whether the other options are better than Carrd for this kind of page.

Wishes· 4 posts· written 27 Oct

What do people want from Carrd?

The wish is for less of it: all 4 people in the section want ready-made Carrd templates, tips on finding one, or someone else to make the page and write the wording, usually because making it themselves is the hard part.

Every post here is a request for help with the making. One asks for Carrd templates for a rent listing, to edit themselves, and wants a catalogue dropped; another wants a Carrd and the wording written for them too. One, having gathered all the information for their character, treats finding a Carrd as the hard decision left. Another, finding the making hard, thinks about paying someone to do it.

None of these posts name a feature of the editor; the ask is for the output — a template or a finished page — rather than for the tool to change.
