Notion on X

Notion is talked about less as a notes app than as where AI agents keep their memory: 35 people describe it that way, just ahead of the 34 who simply praise it. Complaints settle on things that break and on AI credits.

How do people feel about Notion?

Notion's reception is split almost evenly between loving the tool and using it as the memory layer for AI agents: 35 people describe it as the place their bots read from and write to, just ahead of the 34 who simply praise it. Doubt is real but smaller, at 18 people.

The largest group, 35 people, treats Notion as where agents keep their work: a "source of truth" for a Grok Bot chief of staff, a workspace where every model logs its sessions, a "context backpack" any AI can plug into. Several say their notes already live in Notion, and that having agents read them directly, instead of copy-pasting, is the part they care about.

Praise for the product itself is close behind at 34 people: note taking, meeting notes that capture the other side of a call, and the second-brain framing. 15 people single out the rebuilt native iPad and phone app, with foldables and side-by-side panes named as the win.

18 people are unconvinced: the AI push placed where they least need it, more workspace to scroll the same apps, one calling it the biggest procrastination app. 9 people like it but raise a rough edge, and 6 long-time users say it now favours teams over individuals.

Grok Bot has saved me at least 12 hours of social media reporting this week. Especially now that it has access to X and can do sentiment reporting, pull real time analytics, and tell me about trends on specific occasions. Combined with the ability to plug into @NotionHQ and have my team informed while I’m literally sleeping is crazy. Vs the past where I would’ve had to set alarms every few hours or wake up at 4 am to prepare an update for the company. Well done @larsencc and team Such a great experience.

Yes. Sometimes when I want to delete a bullet point, the keyboard still shows up and covers the “delete” option. It happens when I click between the text and the bullet point. It really pissed me off today. Otherwise it’s very polished, I like it ! 👍

What do people complain about with Notion?

Breakage is the biggest complaint, with 11 people naming things that fail or annoy, and AI credits and allowances come next at 8 people. The rest is a long tail of slowness, price and interface friction, each named by a handful.

The largest group, 11 people, reports things that break: an app "practically useless" with no internet, a phone keyboard covering the delete option, call audio from other apps not captured, tab spaces lost in an update, a scrollbar running through blocks.

8 people run into AI credits. One long-time Business user says meeting notes start drawing credits on December 1 and 10 credits a meeting won't cover their calendar, so they moved meeting notes to Granola; others say you should be able to plan a working day without "reverse engineering the credit system". Connected to that, 4 people object that picking your own model now draws from a smaller pool than letting Notion choose, calling it less freedom at the same price.

Smaller groups name other costs: 5 people find it slow, one calling it the slowest app to launch on their Mac; 4 say it is too expensive for individuals, citing $240 a year and no convenient individual plan; 4 say the AI button has buried search.

  • Slow and laggy5
  • Navigation and layout friction5
  • Less control over the model5

Starting December 1, @NotionHQ will be charging credits for its meeting notes, previously it hasn't been. I have been a Notion Business plan user since day 1 of its AI initiative. Unfortunately I've got too many meetings that the 10 credits per meeting ain't gon work for me. Have decided to move meeting notes to @meetgranola. Hello! 👋 link

Calling this an upgrade is spin. Choosing my own model now draws from a separate, smaller pool: 500 Select credits vs 1,500 if I let Notion pick. That's not "more for less." It's less freedom at the same price. Just be honest with us, @NotionHQ.

What are the alternatives to Notion?

Nobody in this section agrees on one rival: the largest group, 5 people, weighs plain markdown files against keeping notes in Notion, and beyond that it is a scatter of named tools at one or two people each. Several of the comparisons run the other way, with people moving to Notion rather than off it.

The largest group, 5 people, asks why a workspace should hold what a folder of markdown files could: one asks why tie yourself to an ecosystem "when there is nothing much to gain", another says raw text worked until the data got key-value heavy. People put the other side too: if your context already sits in Notion, running files alongside is doing the work twice.

The rest is one or two people per tool. Granola draws the meeting-notes user who objects to per-meeting credits. AppFlowy draws people who self-host it and call cloning Notion "wrestling a beast" for the control it buys. Asana and Basecamp come up as simpler places for project work, AFFiNE for its page-to-canvas flow, with people moving in both directions. One moved to a Supabase table, another to a tool they built.

Some of the switching runs toward Notion: off Apple Notes because the data needs to be reachable by AI, off AFFiNE after months on it, and one advising a colleague to ditch Asana and "just make asana in Notion".

Not a fan of iCloud products anymore. Used to be good but they missed the AI train. A headache if you want to own your data (and analyze or manage it with AI). So this kind of works but honestly the solution is to keep your data where you can easily access it and link it with other tools. Also a reason I switched away from Apple Notes to @NotionHQ. And I used to love Apple Notes. Interfaces are dying as AI gets more powerful. From then on it's all about accessibility.

Questions· 36 posts· written 27 Oct

What do people ask about Notion?

Questions split between two level groups of 7 people each: how to wire agents into Notion, and what the rebuilt app will support. After those, 5 people ask how AI credits work and 5 ask how to do a specific task.

On agents, 7 people ask for other people's setups rather than for documentation: which connector posts content, whether a shared doc agents all write to turns into "a junk drawer", whether a setup is plug and play or needs finessing, and whether bookmark capture returns the same posts every six hours.

On the app, another 7 people ask what the rebuilt editor and phone app will handle: voice dictation, Spotlight and Siri indexing, zooming text on iPad, how find-in-page behaves on pages that render as you scroll, and whether custom pages reach mobile. One frames it as whether a manager can open it at 8 a.m. and see which orders are missing measurements.

5 people ask whether AI use is capped, whether connecting your own key still draws Notion credits, and whether bots can be invited without paying per AI seat. 4 ask when Claude or Gemini access arrives and when Custom Agents are included; 4 ask for a ship date on the native app. 5 ask about single tasks: restoring a deleted page, renaming a database, connecting Drive, looping audio.

  • How do people set up agents in Notion?7
  • What will the new app support?7
  • How do AI credits and limits work?5
  • How do I do this in Notion?5
  • When do other AI plans get supported?4
  • When does the native app ship?4

agents talking to agents through one shared doc. me approving instead of doing anyone else giving their agents a shared brain? how are you keeping it from turning into a junk drawer? @grok @NotionHQ

Rendering on scroll should help long pages a lot. How does it interact with find-in-page and jumping to a linked block that hasn’t rendered yet? Those are the details that make virtualization feel invisible rather than surprising.

What do people want from Notion?

Wishes come in small, level clusters: 4 people ask for Android and foldable support, 4 want Notion Calendar brought up to the app's standard, and 4 want to see and undo what agents changed. Handwriting on iPad is next at 3.

The mobile ask, 4 people, is for the rebuilt app on Android tablets and folding phones — one wants iPad to open unfolded like a Galaxy Z Fold, another asks for iPhone Duo compatibility before it is announced.

Calendar, 4 people, is the most-reached request: do the same for Notion Calendar on iPad, and add the one-month view the Google Calendar app has.

Agent oversight, 4 people, asks to see when an agent edited a page, to jump straight to the before and after, and to undo an agent's edits "without losing the human ones".

Handwriting, 3 people, wants Apple Pencil or pen writing on iPad instead of typing, plus dictation inside pages, one because they can only type with one hand.

The rest is one person each: tabs in the iPad app, larger text and zoom, hiding the sidebar, a free individual plan with AI, one command center to dispatch agents, and interface support for Ukrainian.

  • More from Notion Calendar4
  • See and undo what agents changed4
  • Write by hand on iPad4
  • Control over the layout3
  • Native app instead of a web view3

Block-level attribution is handy when a page mixes human and agent edits. A direct jump from that label to the before/after change would turn “who touched this?” into something you can resolve without searching the whole page history.
