GitHub Copilot on X
The largest group of people praise GitHub Copilot — for accurate code suggestions, work finished faster, and Claude and Codex models reachable on the free plan — while the complaints that follow are about price and credits running out, and people weigh Codex, Cursor and Claude Code as replacements.

How do people feel about GitHub Copilot?
Praise outweighs complaint: 35 of the section's 56 people speak well of Copilot, mostly for code suggestions and work finished faster, while 14 are disappointed or leaving, several over price or credits.
Most of the talk is praise, and it is practical rather than ecstatic. People credit Copilot with getting work finished: one developer built two tools in parallel in a week that would have taken a month, another says that after initial hesitation about its coding style "there is no going back". They name accurate code suggestions that keep the editor moving, a free plan with roughly two thousand completions a month, the Copilot SDK reachable on that same free plan, and step-by-step help while learning. One person notes that through GitHub Enterprise, Copilot now opens up Claude and Codex models.
The disappointed name specifics: a computer-use release called "very janky", a slide in quality, and pricing. Price is where praise turns conditional. 5 people rate it well and then name the bill, a credit burn they cannot control, or code that still needs checking; one who called it really good has not used it since the price rise. 2 are only trying it out.

Honestly, I think I've worked more since AI became a thing. At work, I built two tools in parallel using GitHub Copilot and finished both in a week. Without AI, that could have taken me a month. But I didn't spend the other three weeks relaxing. I took on more. AI made me
2/ GitHub Copilot (free plan) Inline suggestions + chat inside VS Code. It handles the boring repetitive work so I can focus on logic, performance, and client requirements. 2,000 completions/month is solid for most people.
I agree about people will only understand LLM capability when they start using it.Initially I was hesitant about Github copilot coding style but once I got grip on it now there is no going back.

What do people complain about with GitHub Copilot?
No single complaint carries this section: the most-named is price, with 9 people, then credits running out fast at 7, and the rest is a long tail of quality, app and setup problems named by a handful of people each.
Price talk centres on the move to token billing: one post says developer bills went from $29 to $750 a month, another puts it at a $30 base plus a cent a credit, around $400 in a heavy month, and people who liked the product say they dropped it over cost. Right behind, 7 people watch allowances vanish — a Pro quota down to 3% in a day, tokens gone after a few hours on Haiku 4.5, three days of agent work ending when the tokens did.
Below those, the complaints are specific and small. Output misses: a model routed to Sonnet 4.6 after Opus 5.5 was picked, test files that ignore naming conventions, PR reviews called annoying. The app gets in the way — IME input, tabbed review comments, an inbox "barely usable" for open-source work, mobile monitoring gone. Model retirements on 19 October forced pinned settings to be redone and replacements enabled by admins. Long sessions compact and lose context, and one security test says auto-approve raised attack success from 29.2% to 95.6%.
- Price too high9
- Credits run out fast7
- Output quality disappoints5
- Clunky app experience5
- Refuses or can't do the job4
- Model retirements break setups3

GitHub Copilot just switched to token billing. Developer bills jumped from $29/month to $750. This is the canary. Every flat-rate AI subscription will face the same transition as power users consume 10-100x more compute than casual users.
GitHub copilot $30 base and 1 cent for every AI credit Burning almost 35K credit a month So around $400

What are the alternatives to GitHub Copilot?
No rival dominates the comparison: Cursor and Gemini are level at the top with 4 and 4 people, Codex is next with 3, and after that one or two people each weigh Claude Code, Kiro, local models or Antigravity.
The Cursor comparison runs both ways. One developer calls Cursor "the single worst AI product" for work and says they would rather use Copilot; others sort the two by job, Cursor as the AI-first editor and Copilot as the better fit for GitHub teams and for work next to pull requests and issues.
Gemini is weighed in both directions: some say Copilot beats Gemini at coding, and some treat Gemini as the fallback they moved to or regret buying — one left Copilot over its pricing, bought Gemini Pro and was unhappy with it, and another uses Claude models through Copilot and reaches for Opus on hard work. Codex is the tool people cancel for — one says Copilot can be fully replaced by it and drops the subscription — though another runs Codex and Copilot's free tier side by side. Claude Code draws the quality complaints, and one cancelled their plan after credits ran out.

Room for one paid subscription: 1. Claude Pro 2. ChatGPT Pro 3. Cursor Pro 4. GitHub Copilot Which one keeps your money?
Cursor is still, to this day, the single worst AI product I have ever had to use for work in any capacity. I'd rather use github copilot.
Cursor vs Copilot vs Claude Code — which one for what? Cursor → best ai-first editor GitHub Copilot → best for github teams Claude Code → best agent in terminal No fake winner. Pick by the job. Which one are you team? 👇 @cursor_ai @github @claudeai
Are you making stuff like this woth the regular Gemini Pro subscription? I used to utilize Github Copilot but they ruined the pricing. I recently bought Gemini Pro but regret it. But I haven't messed with maas-coding because I feel like it'd use all my usage up.

Questions· 7 posts· written 27 Oct
What do people ask about GitHub Copilot?
Questions are mostly about whether Copilot can do a particular job — 4 people ask about a test harness, accessibility fixes or an enterprise integration — with 2 asking which model to pick and one asking whether any paid AI subscription earns its money.
The task questions are concrete. Two people ask GitHub directly why Copilot cannot write a harness, one asks whether it will bring their site into WCAG compliance using the Copilot app with rough prompts, and another asks the chances of a direct integration for their tools with an Enterprise Copilot subscription.
Model choice is asked in terms of cost and skill: one developer working under a 7,500-credit limit wants to know which models to use for planning and which for coding without losing quality, and a beginner asks whether to pick a flash or pro model for testing inside VS Code. The single subscription question offers Claude Pro, ChatGPT Pro, Cursor Pro and Copilot and asks which one keeps your money.
- Can it handle this task?4
- Which model should I use?2
- Is it worth the subscription?1

Wishes· 10 posts from 9 people· written 27 Oct
What do people want from GitHub Copilot?
The largest wish is that Copilot produce more than code: 3 people want documents and test harnesses out of the agent, and the rest are single requests — agent features outside desktop VS Code, pay-per-use pricing, phone monitoring, an IME fix, more memory.
The docs and harness wish comes as a direct complaint to GitHub — "can't github copilot write harness" and "why can't github copilot write harness" — and as a hope that an agent that has done the thinking could hand over the write-up a person would otherwise have to prepare.
The setup wish is about reach: canvases and the agent harness only work in desktop VS Code in a local Copilot session, not with Claude, Codex, remote or web, and one person on WSL could not open a canvas in a tab. Price is raised by someone whose use is uneven, who wants a free base topped up with paid tokens rather than a flat monthly fee. Others want to watch a running session from GitHub Mobile, to drive sessions remotely the way Codex and Claude Code allow, to see the Japanese IME typing problem fixed in the app, and for the agent to remember more across a long session.
- Produce docs and harnesses too3
- Agent features in other setups2
- Pay only for what I use1
- Monitor sessions from a phone1
- Remote control of sessions1
- Fix IME input in the app1

can't github copilot write harness
why can't github copilot write harness
デスクトップ版のVS Codeだけで、Copilot harness(GitHub Copilotのエージェント実行環境)を使う、ローカルのセッションだけ。 👇
Github Copilot
