Cursor on X

People still credit Cursor with real shipped work and recommend it by name, but the argument has moved to what the bundled X plan gives them and what happens when something breaks. Complaints about the bundle and price outnumber the regulars leaving for Claude Code.

How do people feel about Cursor?

Praise and plain recommendation carry this section: 107 people credit Cursor with work they could not do before and 70 name it when someone asks what to use. Disappointment is real but much smaller, at 21 people.

What fans credit is output, not features: an iOS app audited and then fixed in about an hour, a markdown-to-docx library rewritten overnight with measurable speed-ups, a webpage built hands-free while a bot drove Cursor, thousands of cloud agent runs started and left to work. Many of these posts pair Cursor with Grok Bot rather than describing it alone. The 70 who recommend it are often terse — replying "cursor" to a what-should-I-use question, saying "cursor + terminal stays", or moving all their engineering work over from Claude Code.

The disappointed 21 are long-time users: going back to Cursor "feels like going back a few models", it has gotten "noticeably worse with the newer Opus models", and one cancelled over this month's regressions. 12 are newcomers just signing up, some arriving through the $30 X bundle; one, after years in neovim, found it "overwhelming". 8 worry the Grok tie-up is steering the product away from the models they came for.

people keep asking me for a use case. here it is: i ask @Tesla to build a webpage. it asks @Bot, which asks @cursor_ai to build it. once it's built, @bot asks @SpacefastHQ to deploy it, and Tesla opens the page in the Tesla browser. all hands-free. while driving 🤯

Grok Bot is super cool 😎 I found Apple's perf guidance, then my @grok Bot audited my iOS app and drove @cursor_ai with Opus 5.5 to fix it. ~1hr later: Super fast and snappy app, 80% less data per refresh, 99% fewer disk writes. CI > GitHub > @Cloudflare > TestFlight. Zero code

This app is a game changer for me I can start a task, it will be performed in the Cloud, and I’ll review it in my free time. And all of that from MY PHONE. No additional subscription needed. Just login in the app with your Cursor Pro plan. Yeah, I love @cursor_ai

What do people complain about with Cursor?

Value is the sorest point: 33 people say the bundled X plan gives them less than they had, and only slightly fewer, 30, call the price too high for what they get. 27 say support is unreachable when things break.

On the bundle, the complaints are concrete: third-party model credit "silently cut from $400 to $100" a month after people bought SuperGrok Heavy for the gifted Cursor Ultra, non-Cursor models now billed per token, "lower limits on third-party models" after switching plans, and one person forced onto the unified subscription. Others say buying standalone Cursor Pro is the better deal for heavy coding.

Cost shows up as the monthly figure ($200 Ultra burned through in days, on-demand climbing to $90), as a missing middle tier between the $30 and $100 plans, and as a preference for Claude Code's price. 25 say usage runs out fast — "Other Models: 100% used in 2 days" — and 22 that the best models are limited or missing.

Support is the sharpest complaint: 27 report accounts locked after billing or account merges, five days of silence, and being closed out by an AI assistant — "no ticket number yet. Only answers from Bot". Smaller groups cite app bugs and disconnects (21), refused refunds (16), and the account unification itself (12).

Nice pitch. Reality: I bought SuperGrok Heavy solely because Cursor Ultra was gifted with it. Roughly a month later Other Models quietly dropped $400→$100. Hook with a gift, then slash it — fraud. @cursor_ai @xai

I pay @cursor_ai $200 a month. My weekly usage is at 100% after 3 days. On-demand is at $90 this cycle and climbing without doing anything. I run a one-man business on my @bot. They are the best tools I've ever used!!! But this week I had to pause half of them and move work

Claude Code has everything Cursor gives you for less. I switched a few months ago and haven't regretted it. Cursor has been ridiculously expensive, and I can't see how the value correlates with the price.

@cursor_ai @grok @bot @elonmusk I am locked out of my Cursor account. I think it was due to looping or failed payment attempts to upgrade to ultra. I have been waiting on customer service to email me for 5 days. How do I know if and when I will get a reply ?

Hey @cursor_ai @mntruell @amanrsanger I am a student and had an accidental overage of just $0.23, but my card was auto-charged $18.23. When I emailed support, the AI bot Sam immediately closed it citing model costs. My actual usage was only 23 cents, and the rest is completely

What are the alternatives to Cursor?

One comparison dominates: 30 people weigh Cursor against Claude Code, and they land on both sides. Nothing else is close — plain VS Code with plugins is next, at 7 people.

The Claude Code traffic runs both ways. One person moved pretty much all their engineering work to Cursor because Claude Code in auto mode had become effectively useless to them; another keeps Cursor "when i'm feeling fancy" and hands whole tickets to Claude Code; a third cancelled Cursor after switching and says the bill dropped instantly. Price and the narrowed model list are what push people out, and one long-time Ultra user reports several companies moving to Claude after a model was nerfed.

Past that it is a long tail. 7 weigh plain VS Code with plugins instead of paying for Cursor, 5 run work through Grok Build CLI to save usage, 4 weigh Codex and the same number route work to Grok Bot alone. Someone whose account migration was botched used it as the excuse to try Amp, which they say beats Cursor in every way imaginable. Others split the budget rather than choose, paying for both Claude and Cursor.

Claude beats @cursor_ai and @grok when it comes to game dev. I would rather not cancel Cursor / Grok, but after 100+ hours of trying the to get Cursor/XAI to work, it's too aggravating to continue using them.

Claude Code has everything Cursor gives you for less. I switched a few months ago and haven't regretted it. Cursor has been ridiculously expensive, and I can't see how the value correlates with the price.

Questions· 69 posts from 65 people· written 27 Oct

What do people ask about Cursor?

The two biggest questions are level: 22 people ask which tool or tier to buy and 20 ask how usage works now. Behind them, 7 ask whether Cursor is still worth using at all.

The buying questions are comparisons more than product queries: Cursor against Claude Code, Codex, Gemini Antigravity and Devin, "pick ONE for the next 6 months", or which tool is best on a $20 budget. Some are about the bundle — whether to buy standalone Cursor Pro or the X plan, and whether a second premium account beats paying overage.

The usage questions are where people are most confused: whether a job drains the weekly allowance or its own pool, whether Cursor work also spends Grok Bot credits, whether limits reset when you upgrade, whether an Ultra plan has a limit at all, and how to turn off auto top-ups. A few ask about the product's direction instead: when Composer 3 ships and whether Grok has delayed it, and whether logins will be unified. 5 ask whether it is free or cheaper through a subscription they already pay for.

  • Which tool or plan should I buy?22
  • How does usage work now?21
  • Is Cursor still worth it?7
  • Can I get it free or cheaper?6
  • Where is Composer 3?4
  • Will logins be unified?4

Wishes· 41 posts from 35 people· written 27 Oct

What do people want from Cursor?

No wish has a crowd behind it: the biggest, a single rules file shared across coding agents, has 5 people. The rest are ones and twos, each about a specific piece of the workflow.

The shared-rules-file thread outgrew the section: the same 40 lines pasted into CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md, GEMINI.md and .cursorrules, "quietly drifting apart by friday". Replies note Cursor now reads AGENTS.md, which cut the drift, and people swap tricks about one master file the others point at.

The rest are small and specific. 3 want better PR review in the agent window — proper syntax highlighting, generated files hidden, code tours, view-sync — because that view is where they read what cloud agents did. Others want a cheaper Grok Bot plan without the Cursor bundle, a Cursor app for Android, help driving a full Windows app or Android emulator end to end, new models folded into subscription usage, and spend caps agents cannot route around. A handful want less platform work, not more: alerts only when a preview is ready, chats grouped by repo, separate shortcuts for the IDE and agent view.

  • One shared rules file7
  • Better PR review in the agent window4
  • Android app2
  • Grok Bot only, without the Cursor bundle2
  • Drive a full app end to end2
  • New models included in the subscription2

every coding agent wants its own rules file now. CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md, GEMINI.md, .cursorrules same 40 lines pasted four times and quietly drifting apart by friday has anyone got one file working across @cursor_ai and @claudeai's Claude Code or are we all just symlinking?

Whichever one I open, what made switching cheap was a single shared instructions file: AGENTS.md at the root (Cursor reads it), plus a CLAUDE.md that's just @AGENTS.md. Recent Claude Code even reads AGENTS.md on its own if there's no CLAUDE.md. Otherwise the two drift and you keep re-explaining conventions.

Improve the PR review interface in the agent window. I do all my development with cloud agents and that view is how I review the agent’s code. It doesn’t highlight syntax properly, or hide files that are marked generated, or click-through to definition like linear does.
