As someone who's had a max chatgpt, cursor, and chatgpt plan. it's crazy how intuitive factory feels and how much further your tokens stretch. Strongly encourage students to try @FactoryAI out!
Factory on X
Factory's conversation is led by fans: 47 of 86 people in reception praise it outright, several for missions that build a project unattended. The loudest complaint is usage running out before the period ends, and the questions are mostly about which models to set to spend less.

How do people feel about Factory?
47 of the 59 people here are outright fans, naming it the best or favourite tool they use, and 7 single out missions that build a project unattended. 5 tried it and walked away, 4 are curious and planning to try, and the rest doubt first-build demos prove much.
Praise is concrete. People describe tagging Factory under a video in a Slack thread and getting 15–20 shorts out with copy written, prototyping a marketplace in twenty minutes, or building a database for finding founders; they name prebuilt sandboxes, 20-plus built-in skills and built-in image generation as what clicked. One user says their tokens stretch further than on plans they already pay for; another cites the choice of models and generous usage limits.
The mission strand is its own thing: set a job up once and it "runs until it's done" — still cranking after a laptop closed, a whole product from one prompt.
The undecided say it "looks cool" and they should try it; a few bought the cheapest plan or are on a trial and call mission mode unique. The sceptics argue a greenfield one-shot is the easy win and the real test is an existing repo with its own opinions, judging a claim on the rerun rather than the first build. Those who tried it and left give two reasons: one says it is not their vibe and will not renew; the other moved off because they could not sign in with subscriptions they already pay for.

One thing that consistently gets the most surprised reactions when I share it: You can tag @FactoryAI under a video someone posted on Slack, and make it cut 15-20 shorts from it with key video moments, pull out copy based on what is talked about, and set it up for ads. One
First time ever , I can use 1 shot prompt, build a whole product that works, without me in the loop. This is truly software factory experience. @FactoryAI @droid good work, good work. the mission mode in Droid is epic. it crush the cursor project
For the long projects is a must to use mission mode. Planning everything in details, working on every milestone, completely autonomous. And i had a really hard project. You could save some tokens working on mission mode.
looks cool, i guess i should give it a try.

What do people complain about with Factory?
The largest group, 8 people, says allowances or cloud hours run out before the period ends. Quota mechanics that ate credits and the cost of the tool are level at 4 and 4 people, CLI rough edges and support complaints are level at 3 and 3, and 2 say they cannot use subscriptions they already pay for.
Usage is the recurring sore point. People on Max describe being 79% through the month in 12 days, or out of the monthly allowance in two weeks; they say cheap models are fine but on a frontier model "it's over", that overnight runs ate the month, and that cloud computer hours stop mid-work and make migration painful.
Quota mechanics are the second: an automatic switch to Droid Core on Kimi K3 once the five-hour Standard limit hit, expensive defaults such as GPT 5.6 Sol and Opus 4.8, a bloated custom skillset chewing usage, and a Droid Core reset date later than the renewal date. Cost complaints say cheap workers iterate until the bill matches a frontier model, that tasks cost more than token rates suggested, and that the monthly price is thin.
CLI and SDK reports: the CLI not pulling missions that show in the desktop and web apps, an SDK release behind the CLI's permission requests that broke a third-party harness, a session id that changed overnight, and a TUI taking 30 seconds to open with copying and mouse support still mangled. Support complaints cite unanswered emails and no follow-up.

- Quota rules burn credits5
- Expensive for what you get4
- Support and follow-through3
- Can't use my own subscriptions2

I spent my monthly Max limit in two weeks. 😭 Factory is good if you use the "under 1x" models, but if you go with a frontier model it's over.
My problem was some "automatic" switches that happened once I hit my Standard limit. I was running cheap models, but when the 5-hour Standard limit was reached, it switched to Droid Core running Kimi K3. That’s when my credits went down the drain.
Exactly what I said. A lower-end model goes through many iterations, which ultimately results in a price that is higher than or the same as that of a frontier model.
Hey @FactoryAI I think this is a bug. The CLI doesn't pull any missions from the account that show in the desktop and web UIs. I assume this is due to local caching, but it prevents me from orchestrating and controlling my missions from the CLI. Brand new fresh install.
@FactoryAI any way to receive some feedback? Support emails are unanswered. Your CTO @EnoReyes has his chat full of issues, the way he said he wanted to receive them but there is 0 follow-up.

What are the alternatives to Factory?
There is no clear rival. Claude Code and T3 Code are level at 3 and 3 people each, with Devin, subscription stacking and Grok level behind them at 2, 2 and 2; Cursor, Codex and Google Antigravity are each named once.
Claude Code is the most named reference: one user says Factory is still "the GOAT" for local work and has finally caught up on cloud, and urges people to look outside Claude Code and Codex; another calls Droid the best one-shot harness they have used; a third dismisses the field as wrappers around Claude Code whose value is build over buy.
The T3 Code strand is about lock-in: people would rather standardise on a harness-agnostic setup than be loyal to any one harness, and one built an RPC-based Droid adapter in their T3 Code fork and stopped caring about the TUI.
Devin prompts a straight question — is it better than Cognition's? — and a $20 Droid is weighed as the agent that keeps going after the limit. Subscription stacking is arithmetic: $200 Factory beside $200 OpenAI, $300 Grok and a cancelled $200 Cursor, or advice to take Claude at $100 plus Droid at $100. One person paying for Grok will not renew Factory; another came back to Factory from Grok. Cursor is contrasted as steer-heavy against missions, Codex is named as another tool to try, and one switched from Antigravity because Google held back model access.

I was lucky enough to get early access to this and I have to say really brings Factory up to speed with cloud focused competitors. For local work, @FactoryAI is still the GOAT, and it's not even close. Now they finally caught up with the cloud. Excited to see how the
this is a sign of vendor lock-in… better to not have loyalty to any one harness, and use T3 Code or equivalent to standardize how u work regardless of the underlying harness
Is it better than @cognition’s
I've never used a codex max sub. get claude $100 + droid $100
I’m currently paying for @grok, which is the only subscription I feel truly good about. I’m also a Pro user on ChatGPT, but lately, their updates have left me feeling a bit confused. I also tried @FactoryAI; while I like what they’re doing, it’s just not my vibe, so I won't be

Questions· 57 posts from 31 people· written 27 Oct
What do people ask about Factory?
The biggest theme, 10 people, is which models to set and how to route calls to keep usage down. Orchestration is next at 5 people, then what a mission burns in tokens at 4, level with paying and allowance questions at 4.
Model choice is where the talk is. People trade settings — Opus 5.5 on medium orchestrating, auto worker, Sol 6.1 on high for verification — argue Sonnet 5.5 holds up as a worker on long runs, ask what auto picks and what it considers, and whether open-weight workers wander enough to cost the same as frontier ones. The efficiency advice is about routing: "fewer unnecessary calls" and clear instructions matter more than short prompts, and one asks a model to slim a skill down.
Cost measurement is its own argument: one person logged a mission at 11 sessions and 21.7M tokens, 79% workers and 93.5% cache, and asks others to measure theirs; others want cost per task once retries are counted.
Orchestration questions ask what handoff between agents looks like and whether running 16 to 32 agents in one project holds up. Context questions ask how memory is shared across chats, answered that same computer means shared context, and whether a delegated task keeps its session when you reconnect from a phone. Others ask free or paid, what $20 buys, and whether Haiku 5.5 or the newest DeepSeek checkpoint is in.
- Which models keep usage down?26
- How do context and memory work?6
- What does a mission cost in tokens?6
- How does orchestration actually work?5
- Is it free, or what does $20 get me?4
- When is model X available?3

yeah that makes sense. Between sol 6.1 and sonned 5, which one would you choose?
I measured where the tokens went in one @FactoryAI Droid Mission. Opus 5.5 orchestrating, GLM-5.3-Flash as workers and validators. 11 sessions, 21.7M tokens. By role, cache included: Workers: 79% Orchestrator: 12.6% Validation: 8.4% Three things that stand out: 1. The
orchestration is the part i want to test. what does the handoff between agents look like in practice?
As for feedback on Factory, from someone nontechnical, I am not sure about how to best navigate shared context and memory within chats on a single project 1/?
it is free or paid?

What do people want from Factory?
The largest group, 4 people, wants more generous limits — no cut to usage, the 5-hour cap dropped, more cloud hours. 3 want a run, diff and test result linked back to the Jira issue or Slack thread it started from; the rest are one-person asks.
Limits are the ask with the largest group behind it: don't cut usage when moving to MAX, drop the 5-hour limit, and loosen the weekly and monthly allowances and cloud computer hours, which one person says stop mid-work at 80 hours a month.
Linking work back is next. People like starting from a Jira ticket because it removes a handoff, but want the return trip: the run, the proposed diff and the test result attached to the same issue so a reviewer can see what "done" means without chasing tools. One wants Droid to pick up only tickets tagged for agents, with a clear definition of done; another wants every delegated task to carry an id it must answer on, because silence looked like progress.
The rest are single requests: running other people's browsers inside Factory Environments, full OIDC support so integrations don't depend on long-lived static credentials, one Droid to manage all the others, a finished mission that leaves something production-ready rather than a demo, and a Factory–LGND integration so Factory's bots can see LGND's data.
- More generous limits4
- Link runs back to the thread3
- Browsers in Environments1
- Full OIDC support1
- One Droid to manage them all1
- Run several missions at once1

The only problem with Droid is that the weekly and monthly data allowances run out faster than the 5-hour limit quota. This is a very, very ridiculous situation, but I am happy with Droid. I hope they fix this issue. @droid @FactoryAI
Starting from the Jira task removes a handoff, but the return trip matters too: linking the run, proposed diff and test result back to that same issue would let a reviewer see what “done” means without following a trail across tools.
You should run our browsers in Environments
I'll do my part. @FactoryAI and @Cloudflare, I'd like you two to have full OIDC support so we don't have to rely on long-lived static credentials.
Will we get one Droid to manage them all?
