Codex & OpenClaw are currently the best AI setup you can get. Yesterday, it delivered a new CRM for JumpStart Studio in one night with @clickup. It's a game changer... Anybody can do anything in such a short amount of time.
ClickUp on X
Talk about ClickUp is led by people who have built their work on it — automations, super agents, model switching — while the complaints concentrate on the AI plumbing: a hosted MCP server capped at 100 calls a day that reports success without changing anything.

How do people feel about ClickUp?
Most people posting about ClickUp like it: 19 of 24 in this section praise the AI and the automations, while 2 argue the all-in-one design is chaos and a couple each are reserving judgement or still deciding.
Praise comes from people who have built their work around ClickUp: an agency owner automating all client processes inside it, a marketer running a daily go-to-market harness there, someone wiring bots in so tasks pass between agents, and a founder who calls it a "game changer" after a CRM was delivered overnight. They point at ClickUp AI helping them move faster, at being able to pick models and switch between them, and at super agents that find prospects or draft emails. A run of the posts are power-user badge announcements rather than anything specific.
Positive with reservations, at 3 people, is level with still deciding at 2: the app is a lot at first, navigation is awkward in the first days, and one new user warns you need to know what you really want before you start. A long-time user who found missing API capabilities still says the setup works pretty well.
2 people argue the all-in-one design itself is the problem: it looks built for someone who has never managed a project, and doing all the things in practice is "noise and chaos"; another says the bottleneck was the process nobody defined, not the missing tool.

. @clickup looks like a project management tool for someone who's never managed a project to completion in their life. Kudos to the design team for somewhat organizing this madness.
Day 2 of using @clickup I was just getting the feel of the App and the website. ✓ For an Organisational App, it's kind of tried to manage the user interface, I admire the effort to keep it simple, yet a little bit sophisticated. But at the initial stage, it seemed like a lot. Not too easy to be less efficient and not too clogged to be difficult. NB: you need to know what you really want to do before getting this app, otherwise you would be confused. See you on Day 3
Built some nice workflows and dashboards in @clickup this week. ClickUp is doing a great job of integrating AI into their product.

What do people complain about with ClickUp?
The MCP server's cap of 100 calls a day has the largest group behind it, 5 of 20 in this section, who call it too small for agent loops; behind it four themes are level at 3, 3, 3 and 3 people — clutter, missing basic controls, a buggy MCP server and API gaps.
The hosted MCP server's 100 calls a day is called "basically one session" and tiny once an agent loops, especially next to an API allowance of 100 calls a minute. One person reads the cap as squeezing money out of people who cannot set this up; another built a replacement MCP server through the API, saying 24-hour rolling limits do not work for a software factory even on a business plan.
Four themes sit level behind that. Clutter and uneven UX come up, including years of accumulated bad choices. Basic actions go missing: no obvious way to rename or delete a file or document without going through AI, an app that hangs on iPad, and a search that cannot find the list you want to move a task to. The MCP server is reported to drop assignees silently, log 1.5h as a minute and report success without changing anything, and the API and MCP cannot listen for @mentions or list priorities.
Smaller strands: AI tools that error or copy instead of moving, free-tier caps on storage, Spaces and Gantt uses that never reset, and messy workspaces blamed rather than the tool.
- MCP call limits are too low6
- Interface is cluttered and hard to navigate5
- AI features are unreliable and hard to control5
- Missing controls and sloppy bugs4
- MCP server is buggy3
- API and MCP can't do what the app can3

Which brainiac at @clickup though that limiting their MCP server to 100 calls PER DAY is a good idea? Ohhh, the API allows for 100 calls per minute? Well I guess I'm building my own 🤷
We standardized on @ClickUp for task management and agentic AI. Then we connected our Software Factory to their hosted MCP server and found at least 27 significant bugs. Task assignees silently disappear. “1.5h” gets logged as 1 minute. Comments lose text. Date filters omit results. Updates report success without changing anything. Some calls return an error after making the change anyway. And so on... For AI agents, false success is especially damaging: the agent moves on believing the work is done, while the underlying task is wrong. We’ve reported every issue to ClickUp Support. If you’re evaluating ClickUp for AI-agent integration, test the actual results carefully. Right now, we can’t trust their hosted MCP server’s responses.

I wanted to rename a file in @clickup .. Couldnt see an option to rename or delete. Turns out I had to use AI , now I had to type entire details instead of using 2 clicks... This is just plain dumb.. use AI where it will actually help .. not at these places.
Clickup’s open API only allows external agents to write to tasks or comments, not to listen for @mentions in real-time. You’d need a middleware bot to poll for new comments and trigger the agent.

What are the alternatives to ClickUp?
The largest group is 3 people who raise building your own with coding agents, and 2 would rather use GitHub Projects for agent work; the rest are one person each weighing Todoist, Basecamp, Asana or Abacus AI.
Building your own is the largest group here. Three raise it: with Claude Code it takes a few hours and gives something custom to your needs, and one says simply "create your own clickup"; the counter is that this suits one person, and someone using it as a team would hate to create and maintain their own.
GitHub Projects comes up from 2 people who use it for triggering agents, with way less plumbing than wiring ClickUp's API.
The rest are single voices. Todoist is enough for a seven-person team with their own order system, Basecamp is much simpler and "works better" for the work that actually has to be done, and Asana, Monday or ClickUp is the pick once clients need status tracking. One person wants to link ClickUp Brain to Abacus AI's supercomputer but finds transferring a whole project elsewhere too cumbersome. A September post mentions moving on to Notion, and nothing since.

I would say with Claude Code build your own thing. It takes a few hours. Then you have something really custom to your needs
yep, way less plumbing with GitHub projects
Todoist for your own tasks. Asana, Monday, or ClickUp once clients need status. Building tududi for the personal layer: agents can read it.

Questions· 6 posts from 5 people· written 27 Oct
What do people ask about ClickUp?
Questions are few and practical: 2 people ask whether ClickUp's AI can do a specific job — trigger from a mention, move a task — and one person each asks about on-premise options, AI credit cost and whether a small agency needs ClickUp at all.
The largest group here, 2 people, asks whether the AI can actually do a specific job: whether a codex bot can be set up in ClickUp chat or tasks, mentioned, and left to execute the work, and whether Brain2 can move a task from one list to another without error yet.
The remaining asks are single voices. One person asks twice, naming a long list of tools, which project management product can be run on premise. Another works out AI credit cost from the published price — 10,000 credits for $10, so is a million $1,000? A third asks whether a seven-person creative agency can be managed in Todoist or needs Asana, Monday or ClickUp, and why.
The filed posts carry few answers or outcomes: the questions stand open here, so what people want to know is clearer than what they found out.
- Can the AI do what I ask?2
- Is there an on-premise option?2
- How much do AI credits cost?1
- Do I need ClickUp for a small team?1

hey @clickup is there a way to setup codex bot/agent in clickup chat/tasks where I can mention it @codex so it can start to execute the task or needed work? can I do this with claude?
Cool. Can super Brain2 move a task from one list to another without error yet?
Which one is on premise
How much is 1M AI Credit to add? Your website says 10000 AI Credit is $10, so 1M is $1000. Correct?
Real question: Can you manage the whole creative agency of 7 people with client projects in @todoist or do u need apps like @asana or Monday or @clickup ? Why?

What do people want from ClickUp?
The largest group, 2 people, want the API and MCP brought up to par with the app, and one person, across 2 posts, wants reasoning-effort control everywhere in the AI; the rest are one-off requests.
The largest ask by people, from 2, is for the API and MCP to match the app: people love add-to-priorities, but the API and MCP do not support it, and one asks whether the missing mention-triggered agent support will come soon.
The other repeated ask comes from one person over 2 posts: reasoning effort can be chosen in Brain, but not for a Super Agent or in an automation, and there is no transparency about what level is actually in use. They want it rolled out across the whole app, since the AI that runs for them is in agents and automations rather than in chatting with Brain.
The rest are one-off requests: fix the bugs the AI already has before adding more, mark in the model picker which models are premium and which are standard so usage windows are clear, let people switch off in-app announcement pop-ups or send them to email instead, and free AI credits for people promoting the product.
- Bring the API and MCP up to par2
- Reasoning-effort control everywhere2
- Fix the bugs1
- Mark which AI models are premium1
- Turn off in-app pop-ups1
- Free AI credits1

Dear @clickup , we love "add to priorities". It's such an useful feature! Feature request: but currently your API and MCP doesn't support it, could you kindly add the support? @DJ_CURFEW
EXCEPT.... you can't pick it everywhere you need it! Like, you can pick the reasoning effort in Brain, but not for a Super Agent. You can set what model they use, but not what reasoning level. Nor is there any transparency on what reasoning level it is actually using in that case. Same for automation where the action is to do "anything" with AI. There you can't even pick the model much less the thinking effort. The ability to dial in how hard the AI thinks in ClickUp is super important, glad you guys have this... but you need to actually get it rolled out across the whole app. Most of the AI that happens is not chatting with Brain, it is in the agents and automation where this feature is completely missing.
Errr….. okay. How about, I don’t know, fixing the bugs with what you already got with AI?
That seems fair, thanks for the clarification! One thing though: could you please indicate in the model picker which models are Premium and which ones are Standard? That would make it much easier to understand which models are subject to the usage windows.
@clickup hey team, is there anyway to turn off the in-app distractions. i get these messages are important to ClickUp, but perhaps better suited to email.
